All businesses thrive on getting more customers. The question is, “How do you get them?”. The best way to get customers to choose you is to make it as easy as possible to do business with you. This would be a good time for you to examine your current procedures and processes to make sure they are customer-friendly.

This concept is known as creating ease of use. That means if a customer is making a transaction on your website, he or she is not going to get kicked out every two seconds because the customer didn’t follow your convoluted rules. If you’re selling from your website, test it yourself and get others to test it too. Make sure you’ve designed out all the flaws in the system.

When Intuit started selling its accounting software, it actually sent technicians to homes to watch customers try to install the product. The tech would watch the customer’s face and anytime he looked puzzled or squinted, the tech would stop and ask him what he was looking at. The technicians took this information back to the company, where engineers designed out any trouble spots in the installation process. As a result, the company was able to offer a money-back guarantee if the software was not up and running within 15 minutes.

Make sure your customers can buy from you in a hassle-free method, so they have no barrier to saying “yes” to you. It could be the difference between them completing their transaction on your site or switching to your competition.
